CARMEL, IND. - May 14, 2008
- Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies today announced that it will begin phasing
out the brand "Ingersoll Rand Recognition Systems" for its HandPunch®
time and attendance terminals. HandPunch terminals will now carry the well-known
Schlage brand.
"For more than 20 years,
we have served both the time and attendance and access control markets under
the name 'Recognition Systems Inc.' or 'RSI'," explains Jon Mooney, general
manager, Schlage biometric solutions. "In 2008, we will be embarking on
a transition to consolidate all of our products and services under Ingersoll
Rand's premier Schlage brand.
"A study conducted
by a third party marketing research firm concluded that Schlage is the number
two most recognized brand in the security industry," Mooney adds.
HandPunch terminals are
used by McDonald's, Dunkin Donuts, the City of New York and the City of Chicago
for their time and attendance needs.

"The Schlage name and
its reputation for reliability and security will reinforce our value proposition
that HandPunch terminals help stop fraud and eliminate the mistakes of manual
time and attendance record keeping," continues Mooney. "Our HandPunch
terminals ensure employees earn a day's pay only when they are present to do
a day's work.
"However, a terminal
such as the HandPunch is more than a simple time clock," adds Mooney. "It
transmits the employee's In and Out transactions to a company's time/attendance/payroll
software. Multiple units can be networked into a central time and attendance
record keeping system. Interface software can be tailored to meet multiple record
keeping needs, including programmable data management keys that collect specific
data when employees' hands are verified. As a result, the readers combine the
flexibility of a full function data collection terminal with the sophistication
of the most accurate identification technology available."
