CAMPBELL, CALIF. - May 3,
2007 - Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies today announced that Family Residences
and Essential Enterprises, Inc. (FREE), a non-profit organization in Old Bethpage,
New York, that provides educational, residential and other support services
to individuals with developmental disabilities and mental challenges, is using
five of its biometric HandPunch terminals to record accurate time and attendance
for its 1,500 employees. As a result, Family Residences and Essential Enterprises,
Inc. has simplified and improved its payroll processes.
"Previously we were
using hand-written timesheets," reports Debbie Forgione, Payroll Manager
for the non-profit. "There were some challenges, but the biggest was that
the organization grew so large that it was unwieldy to input and keep track
of all the timesheets. The new method is much easier and we can import the time
and attendance data from our InfiniTime timekeeping software straight into Excel."
The HandPunch reader automatically
takes an image of the hand and verifies the user's identity in less than one
second.
Family Residences and Essential
Enterprises, Inc. uses the HandPunch units at several of its business sites.
Employees can even use a "Department Transfer" feature to clock in
and out of HandPunch units at different locations.
"The biometric system
has cut down on payroll processing time and is far more accurate," Forgione
says. "All of our employees are registered to use the HandPunch. It only
takes two minutes to enroll each employee. The system saves time and controls
overtime."
