Recognition Systems' HandKey™ CM Hand Geometry Readers-Benefits of Networked System without the Network Expense
Same Software Manages Multiple Ingersoll-Rand Locking Systems, Credentials, Access Points and Users
CAMPBELL, CALIF. - March 6, 2002 - Recognition Systems, the biometric component of Ingersoll-Rand's (IR) Security & Safety Group's Electronic Access Control Division, today announced that the same LockLink™ and LockLink Express access control management software used to program Schlage CM locks, Von Duprin CM993 exit trim and Locknetics universal controllers will now also program HandKey CM hand geometry readers. Now, facility managers can seamlessly include biometrics that positively identifies a user by the shape and size of one's hand.
IR's computer-managed (CM) solution facilitates simplified, uniform access control administration. Multiple openings in an organization can be managed with a variety of stand-alone locking systems, now including biometrics, that share common software. Without any network wires, users have the benefits of a networked system without the costs involved.
"Access and profile management is greatly improved without adding any extra software. Users and installing dealers can mix and match the best type of front-end solution for each opening without adding complexity to the system," advises Bill Spence, Recognition Systems, director of marketing. "Facilities managers can easily gain increased security by introducing biometrics into an existing CM installation. Since the user's hand is the key, the HandKey CM positively identifies people themselves, not their keys, cards or codes. Facilities managers aren't burdened by the cost of a card system nor need they worry about lost or stolen credentials."
At the front door and heightened security areas, the administration of the biometric HandKey CM is no different than uploading and downloading information from other Locknetics On Board CM products. With a laptop or PDA, the administrator goes to a door, plugs in the interface to the HandKey CM, adds or delete users, determines which users can have access to specific doors at specific times throughout the day, and downloads audit trails of who has been through the door and when.
The CM solution manages up to 1000 users and provides audit trails for the last 1000 events. With 16 time zones, 16 time schedules, 32 holidays and other time functionalities, administrators can grant multiple users different privileges regardless if they are using a HandKey hand geometry or other Locknetics On Board computer managed electronic access control locking systems accessed via proximity, magnetic stripe, key codes, iButtons® or any combination within their facilities.
With the HandKey CM, those students who have left campus or employees who have left the company can be easily deleted. When used with front-end technologies other than the HandKey, the CM system also allows administrators to easily disable a lost or stolen card and reissue a new card.
