Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies Assuring
Customers "Buy American"

2010 BAA/ARRA Compliant Product Listing Catalog
Now Available

CARMEL, IND. - May 26, 2010 - Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies today announced that, on a quarterly basis, it is providing a catalog listing of all locks, electronic locks and readers, closers, exit devices, auxiliary hardware and accessories, and steel doors and frames that currently comply with the requirements imposed by the federal government through the Buy American Act (BAA) and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) or meet a clear exception to these Buy American Act requirements. Brands include Schlage, Falcon, LCN, Von Duprin, Glynn-Johnson, Ives and Steelcraft.

"Contractors and others working on ARRA funded projects know that it is key to select the right solution and products that meet their customers' needs as well as the requirements of the Buy American Act," reports Chuck Sarkis, Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies government market manager. "That is simply too big of a risk so we have created what we believe is the only Buy American Act listing in the access control industry to assure that our users don't suffer such mistakes. It is our goal to make it as easy as possible to supply Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies products for projects subject to Buy American Act requirements."

The Buy American Act (BAA) establishes a preference for the federal government, when purchasing supplies for use in the United States, to purchase products mined, produced, or manufactured in the United States. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) is an economic stimulus package that prohibits the use of funds for any project involving the construction, alteration, maintenance, or repair of a public building or public work (i.e. a dam or wastewater treatment facility) unless all of the iron, steel and manufactured goods used in the project are produced in the United States. The ARRA Buy American requirements apply to all federal contracts for construction, alteration, maintenance, or repair of a building.

"However, there are exceptions, exemptions and waivers to many of these requirements," Sarkis warns. "Understanding all the factors that can affect a particular product or project can be confusing, which is why we have a Government Services team to assist customers. We are often able to provide product solutions based on these factors."

For authorized Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies channel partners, the quarterly catalog is available on the company website. Product or project related inquiries are answered by emailing st-govtservices@irco.com.
