FORESTVILLE, CONN. - May
25, 2005 - IR Security & Safety's Electronic Control Systems (ECS) today
announced that Swanston Equipment is using its Schlage Computer-Managed (CM)
locks to secure 16 exterior and interior doors at its new 36,000-square-foot
Bobcat heavy equipment sales and rental facility in Fargo, N.D.
Schlage CM standalone locking products provide features found traditionally
with online, networked systems. Whatever the credential used, a user-friendly
software programs the locks, access trim, and offline hard-wired controllers,
which manage strikes and magnets, from a laptop or PDA. New users, access points
and access privileges can be entered into the system in seconds. They also provide
an audit trail capability.
"We think it's a very good system," explains Mike Swanston, owner
of Swanston Equipment Companies. "We also sell Ingersoll-Rand products
and we stand behind them ourselves."
At the company's former location, employees had to use mechanical keys to access
locks. Now, the 38 employees use the CM locks to access the building and individual
offices. All employees use a keyfob credential to access the doors. Upper level
management can also simply use a PIN code to access the locks.
Feedback from Swanston employees on the new locks has been positive, reports
Paul Strand, heavy equipment service manager for the company. "They like
them very much."
Swanston uses LockLink Express access control software to manage the locks.
LockLink Express is an easy-to-learn and easy-to-use access control management
software for smaller organizations.
Strand programs the locks with a Palm Pilot handheld computer. If someone leaves
the company, he simply tours the locks with the handheld computer and deletes
that user.
