New IR Security & Safety Web-based IRSystemizer™ Lets Dealers/Distributors Design, Price & Quote More Efficiently

Online Access Control & Door Hardware Selection System Streamlines Dealer/Distributor Communication

CARMEL, IND. – July 14, 2003 – IR Security & Safety’s Electronic Access Control Division (EACD) today announced an online, web-based service that lets distributors, dealers and end-users configure their own electronic access control system, browse a library of wiring diagrams, download catalog cuts and technical details, and then request pricing quotes, all at the click of a mouse. Participating distributors in the IRSystemizer database will then receive these electronic requests for quotes and be able to respond quickly via email.

“This will be an exceptional tool that makes electrified door hardware and access control simple and easy,” asserts Chris Nieshalla, Marketing Manager, EACD. “It will enable dealers and end-users to get quick and simple answers to complex product application questions. This tool will also be extremely helpful to our distribution by centralizing product and technical information and simplifying the communication process between them and their customers.”

“The need for this comes straight from the voice of the customer,” adds Andy Geremia, Training Manager, EACD. “Having spent countless hours training new and experienced electrified hardware users, the process of selecting and connecting various low-voltage components continues to pose a challenge to the industry. This played a significant role in the way the format was laid out.”

The process begins with end-users designing their own systems by clicking through a series of alternatives, such as how the access point should be powered and what types of credentials they plan to use. The IRSystemizer then filters out only the products they need, while keeping track of power supply amps to prevent over-taxing the suggested power supply. A library of pre-built solutions and wiring diagrams is also available for the more experienced and familiar user. When the solution for a specific opening has been completed, IRSystemizer generates a hardware list, list pricing and the opportunity to request or send a quoted price via the Internet to a preferred distributor or dealer. New systems created by the user can be saved in a personal library for future reference or re-use.

“IRSystemizer is a pure on-line database, making it possible to maintain accuracy by continually updating products, pricing and the library of pre-built systems and wiring diagrams, as well as improve its design and increase the intelligence,” adds Nieshalla. “The entire specifying, quoting, ordering and project completion process will be accelerated, translating into higher work efficiencies and, ultimately, greater profitability.”

IR Security & Safety EACD is now training and enrolling distributors into the IRSystemizer database. Dealers and end-users are being introduced to IRSystemizer at the ALOA convention in Las Vegas, where there will be an on-line kiosk to sample the system.

Interested distributors should contact their local IR Security & Safety consultant while dealers and end-users can begin using the program immediately by registering at www.IRSystemizer.com.
