Schlage COBRA Lock Provides 100 Individual Codes
New Generation of Electronic Cylindrical Locksets Allow Administrators to Add and Delete Users in Seconds at the Lock
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO - March 5, 2002 - Schlage and Locknetics, two prominent IR Security & Safety brands, today announced a new, jointly developed electronic cylindrical lockset packed with unsurpassed customer value. Comparably priced to existing mechanical and electronic numerical code locks, the new Schlage COBRA can store up to 100 codes and allow administrators to easily add or delete users in seconds.
"This is a new generation of programmable locking systems," emphasizes Jeff Koziol, Locknetics marketing manager for computer managed systems. "It removes the worry of using up the capacity of the 17 or 19 codes that are currently available on competitive locks. It is also at a price point of mechanical single code locks that require a cumbersome process to change codes. With the Schlage COBRA, up to 100 different codes may be stored and adding or deleting a user is less than a ten second process."
The COBRA is designed to meet Grade 1 standards, has an architecturally appealing design, and is available in five finishes. As a result, it complements any décor. Until it receives an authorized code, the clutching lever simply gives way, discouraging vandals and others from breaking it to gain entry. The COBRA operates on four off-the-shelf, AA alkaline batteries, which provide 80,000-plus cycles or approximately three years life.
For easily upgrading from traditional mechanical or electrical locksets, the new Schlage COBRA fits a standard ANSI/BHMA cylindrical preparation with minor modifications. It accommodates 1˝- to 2-inch door widths with one model, without the need for spacers or shim kits. For residential 1 3/8" door applications, a residential door thickness kit is available. For retrofitting older, competitive numerical code locksets, door plates are available to cover door preparation left from prior installations.
The new COBRA will be made available through exclusive distributor partners starting on April 1, 2002.
