Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies Focus Group
Finds BOMA Members Equate Safety with Reputation

Study Specifies Variables That
80 Percent of North America’s Prime Office Space Managers Find Important

CARMEL, IN – July 26, 2011 – Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies, a leading global provider of security and safety solutions and manufacturer of Schlage contactless smart credentials and readers, announced today initial findings from a focus group taken among the 900 commercial real estate industry executive members attending the BOMA International Conference held June 26-28 (2011) in Washington, DC.  Property managers ranked innovation, training and consistent execution as the key challenges they face in regard to achieving their security goals.

“The twelve BOMA member panel stated that safety is a critical element in property management as their reputations and their properties’ reputations are on the line,” reports April Noblitt, Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies director, commercial real estate vertical market.  “As the BOMA Cornerstone Partner, with the privilege of exclusively representing the security category to BOMA’s constituency, we felt it necessary to determine what property managers, building owners, tenants and potential alliance partners are thinking when it comes to security issues.”

According to Noblitt, “Great insight was gained into the challenges prime real estate managers face as well as into areas of need that they want the security industry to address.  We feel it is important as industry advisors and marketers to understand the changes taking place in security application and consumption.”

Members highlighted tenant acquisition, retention and expense management as key requirements related to security and safety.  In addition, it was reiterated throughout the dialog that improvement in the areas of communication and training were essential to delivering value to tenants and improving effectiveness.  The final report from the focus group will be available on the Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies website in mid-August.

This study and a similar study conducted in New York City will help Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies to deliver solutions and tools that will best serve this important and growing market.
