CARROLLTON,
TEXAS - August 17, 2009 - GVI Security today announced that Tom Galvin, technical
consultant to manufacturers and software vendors for video surveillance products,
security consultant for critical infrastructure projects, monthly columnist,
patent holder on voice over IP systems, and founder and ex-president of NetVideo
Consulting, will direct product management for the company. On May 21, 2009,
GVI announced that it had acquired a suite of Video Management Systems (VMS)
software and related technology from software provider PacketNVR, LLP. The acquisition
was effected through GVI's wholly-owned subsidiary, GVI Video Management Solutions.
Galvin was instrumental in developing the VMS technology for PacketNVR.
"I look
forward to helping GVI grow its expanding IP video line, which complements one
of the industry's most complete analog video lines, and bring AutoIP to the
thousands of mid-sized surveillance systems users who are now having to compromise
with software that is either too complex or too elementary for their needs,"
says Galvin. "No longer will these users and their integrators have to
sacrifice performance and control."
Prior to founding
NetVideo Consulting, Galvin was vice president of engineering at GE Security,
vice president of product development at Verint and director of engineering
at MCI Telecommunications. He holds a BSEE in electrical engineering from Iowa
State University and an MBA in marketing from the University of Iowa.
Galvin and his family are relocating from Oregon to the Dallas area.
