VALENCIA, CALIF. - July 16, 2001 - Members of the U.S. Armed Forces, Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshall's Office and security directors from major American corporations were able to see Delta bollards and barriers demonstrated at an invitation-only Force Protection Equipment conference held in Quantico, Va. in May. Delta showed three working models-the IP500, TT210 and TW2015-of units presently being used for protection in locations as diverse as U.S. courthouses, military troops in Bosnia and the U.S. State Department headquarters.
"Our products represent the state-of the-art in vehicle and perimeter control systems," affirms Delta Scientific Senior Vice President David Dickinson. "They are literally in use around the world protecting both the United States and other nation's embassies, capitols, palaces, military bases and hundreds of corporate facilities."
Deployed or relocated for full manual or automatic operation within hours, Delta Scientific's quick deployment Series IP500 Barrier is one of the company's best selling major new products. Able to stop and destroy a 7.5 ton (6,800 kg) truck traveling at 30 mph (48 km/h) in less than 20 feet (6 m), the company received orders for over 150 portable barriers in its initial year. According to Dickinson, the U.S. State Department and militaries are major purchasers.
The Delta Scientific Series TT210 Vertical Lift bollard system is designed to destroy the front suspension system, steering linkage, engine crankcase and portions of the drive train of any 7.5 ton (66.7 kN) non-armored or non-tracked vehicle hitting them at 62 mph (100 kph). It also stops 15 ton (133 kN) vehicles at 44 mph (71 kph). It has also been full-scale tested to a U.S. Department of State standard.
Used for intermediate security applications, the Delta TW2015 barricade is crash-rated and installs quickly. It was created especially for difficult implementations such as at parking structure ramps or areas with sub-surface drainage problems. Instead of having to replace the driveway to install a subterranean-mounted unit, the barrier bolts to the existing driveway. The speed at which the barrier deploys can be fully adjusted to the security site and facility requirements. It is being deployed at major federal courthouses.
