According to the University of Southern California Annenberg Strategic Public Relations Center, among companies included in “Fortune” magazine’s most admired companies, there is greater support for PR than those of similar size not on the list. Despite the budget cutting of recent years, PR budgets have remained intact and have actually increased among many companies (and there are those who still wonder why we started emphasizing PR about 12 years ago!).
Importantly, there is a demonstrable connection between using PR and a company’s reputation and stature. Our clients would agree. And, important to us, the use of public relations agencies (“agency of record”) is nearly universal among “most admired companies.”
Last autumn, we spent 3 days on behalf of four security accounts at the ASIS show in Philadelphia, meeting with all the leading security and security-oriented publications. Obviously, our goal was to place articles. Five are running in December and five are running in January. Another dozen or so are scheduled for March through June.
If you’re not scheduling editors at trade shows, you’re missing out. It’s like a press tour without all the plane trips and lack of sleep.
